Moving your Bluesky account to Eurosky with EU-HAUL

Verified as of 27 September 2026. The tool and its interface may change. If a step no longer matches, let me know and I will update the guide.

An AT Protocol account can change servers and keep its identity. Eurosky provides EU-HAUL, a web-based tool that migrates an account hosted by Bluesky or another provider to eurosky.social. Afterwards you can keep using the Bluesky application and other compatible applications.

Migration is a sensitive operation. Read the complete guide before commencing, secure a copy of important files, and allocate sufficient time to ensure the process remains uninterrupted during its final phase.

What changes

The personal data server or PDS that hosts the repository, files, and account functions is changed. The DID document is updated to point to the new server. The DID, which serves as the canonical identity of the account, is preserved.

Posts, profile, followers, followed accounts, and other repository records should be transferred. Associated files, such as images and videos, are also copied, provided the operation concludes successfully. The specific implementation of EU-HAUL claims to also transfer blocks, lists, and various preferences.

Not everything related to an application necessarily resides on the PDS. Direct messages and other private or service-specific data may not migrate. Furthermore, migration should not be confused with a backup: if a file is not copied or a service retains its own data outside the repository, changing the DID to the new server does not reconstruct them.

Your username

If you use your own domain as a handle, current Eurosky support documentation indicates that EU-HAUL detects this and lets you keep it without modifying the DNS record. Inspect the screen before proceeding, as the tool may also offer DNS instructions depending on the configuration type.

If you use a handle ending in .bsky.social, do not assume you will be able to keep it after leaving that provider. EU-HAUL may offer a name under .eurosky.social or other available options. The DID remains, even if the handle changes. Mentions and relationships identified by the DID should continue to point to the same account.

Before you begin

You require:

  • your current handle;
  • the primary account password, not an application password;
  • access to the associated email address;
  • the two-factor authentication code, if enabled;
  • the necessary acceptance or invitation to be hosted on Eurosky;
  • a secure location to store the recovery key, should it be displayed.

Eurosky currently indicates that access must be requested via their portal before initiating the migration with EU-HAUL. Requesting an invitation is not equivalent to manually creating a second account with the same identity. Do not independently open a parallel account that might occupy the destination handle.

Before commencing:

  1. Verify that the associated email address is accessible.
  2. Update the password if you have any concerns regarding it.
  3. Download or separately preserve files and conversations you do not wish to lose.
  4. Note the current handle, DID, and PDS.
  5. Initiate the process from a reliable device and connection.
  6. Do not post or modify the account during the copy process if the tool recommends avoiding such actions.

The process

The migration is initiated at move.eurosky.tech.

  1. Access using your current account. Enter your handle, primary password and the second factor if requested. Eurosky states that the password is used to create a temporary session and is not stored in plain text.
  2. Confirm your email. This must be the address linked to the source account.
  3. Select eurosky.social. EU-HAUL will verify that the server is available and accepting accounts.
  4. Choose your handle. Retain your custom domain when the tool permits, or select an available handle on Eurosky.
  5. Review the data and terms. Do not proceed if the displayed DID does not match that of your account.
  6. Initiate the copy. Immediately save the address of the status page. Eurosky advises that this is the means to check on progress.
  7. Enter the email code. The tool uses this to confirm control of the account.

The copying process may take from minutes to hours and, for large accounts, up to a day according to Eurosky. Do not consider the migration complete simply because posts appear on the destination server.

The identity change

The decisive phase arrives once the data has been copied. EU-HAUL requests a new authorisation to update the did:plc document and ensure the network locates the account on the Eurosky PDS.

Until that update, the source server remains the active one. Afterwards, the DID points to the new server. Do not reactivate or delete accounts during this phase and do not close the page without having saved its address.

The flow may provide a recovery key or PLC rotation key. Save it outside of your email and off the same device, preferably in a password manager with an additional backup. Do not share it. It allows for the authorisation of critical changes to your identity and may not be displayed again.

After the migration

Verify the following before concluding:

  • that the DID is the same;
  • that the handle resolves to that DID;
  • that the DID document points to the Eurosky PDS;
  • that posts, images, profile, followers, following, lists and blocks appear;
  • that you can post and delete a test entry;
  • that you can log in to the applications you use;
  • that old links continue to resolve correctly.

To use the Bluesky application, log in with your identity and specify eurosky.social as the provider when the application does not detect it automatically. Authentication must be directed to the current PDS, not the deactivated account on the previous server.

If the application offers to reactivate the old account, cancel. Reactivating it may interfere with the migration status. Consult the status page or Eurosky support first.

Limits and recovery

AT Protocol documents migration as a mechanism still subject to change. An identity may migrate again to another PDS, but each provider decides whether to accept accounts and under what conditions. Technical portability does not guarantee permanent availability, identical moderation or full compatibility between applications.

The possibility of an adversarial migration does not mean that all content can always be recovered if the previous server disappears. The identity and the repository are related but distinct issues. Keep your own copies of important materials.

For issues, use the support indicated on the official Eurosky website and do not send passwords or recovery keys via email.

On the open conversation

This guide reorganises the official Eurosky and AT Protocol documentation in Spanish. It does not reproduce their interface nor does it guarantee that button names will remain the same. If you have completed the migration and encounter a different step, the guide remains open.
