KChain

A series of geometric spheres connected in a chain, representing blockchain and data chain technology.

Registration and control system for art and luxury assets. It technically embodies the conditions of provenance and persistence that the framework Post-NFT Digital Art: Provenance, Persistence, Recognition identifies as essential for digital art to sustain its existence beyond the collapse of the speculative market.

KChain extends the Structural Surplus programme into the sphere where the artistic event confronts its most concrete infrastructural condition: the market. The hypothesis: registration and traceability infrastructures are not neutral with respect to the artistic event; they configure the conditions under which surplus may be actualised, captured, or rendered invisible within circuits of circulation.

The line of enquiry operates on three articulated fronts:

Technical design. Architecture of the registration system: what is recorded, how it is authenticated, what guarantees of traceability it offers, and what theoretical assumptions underpin each technical decision.

Critical analysis. Examination of existing infrastructures (blockchain, traditional certification, provenance systems) from the Structural Surplus framework: which surpluses they capture, which they render invisible, and which types of artistic event they privilege or exclude.

Application. Deployment of the system within real-world contexts of the art and luxury goods market, with particular attention to digital, intangible, and difficult-to-verify material works.

Status

Business Model Canvas defined. General business flow and interaction between agents formalised. Prototype in restricted circulation, not public. The line of enquiry is in a phase of operational consolidation prior to its public deployment.
