For a time, I published on Substack. It was a useful tool for organising texts, sharing ideas, and maintaining contact with those who had engaged with my work there. I left it due to editorial direction.

A decision in favour of something that matters to me increasingly: that my writing, my archive, and my process reside in a place of my own. A space less conditioned by the logic of platforms and closer to the manner in which I understand my work: as a continuous practice between art, thought, technology, memory, and experience.

That is why I returned to writing from my website, juanesteban.art. From today, new articles in the Public Notebook section may also be received via email.

This blog will not be an editorial newsletter in the strict sense. It will be a public notebook: a living archive where I shall gather texts, notes, brief essays, reflections, and materials related to my research, my artistic creation, and the manner in which I observe the present.

Those of you receiving this email are here because at some point we encountered one another through Substack, you have subscribed recently, or we are friends. I wished to write this first message to re-establish that contact with clarity.
